- History -
The
Mid-Trail is probably the smallest
motel in the state; but what it lacks in
size is made up in character. Jeff and
Sandy McDonald bought the motel in
1994, and have since brought it back
to its original luster.
The motel has only 4 units. It
was originally built for this little town of only 470 people
to make rooms available for family weddings, funerals, class
reunions and the like.
Now that the old railroad bed has become the
Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail,
we see hundreds of guests each year
who come to ride this magnificent trail.

corner near Hardware Hank.) |
| Sandy and Jeff and their daughter Lacy
do all their own |
| cleaning, so they're sure the rooms are
always clean for their guests. |

| There are many things to do in Wilton
and the surrounding |
| area - such as swimming at the village
public pool, touring |
| Amish Country, riding the bike trail,
hiking at Wildcat State |
| Park, horseback riding (4 different
trail rides in our area), and |
| seeing the cranberry harvest in season.
Take a canoe trip |
| from Ontario down the
Kickapoo. Many
canoe rental and |
| shuttle service businesses can be found
in Ontario. |
| Many guests will canoe or bike one day,
and then |
| go horseback riding or take an Amish
Tour the next. |
